Glenn Lyvers Artistry in Everything I Do

Just Like That

2017-08-08

Deep winter,
they watch deer in the meadow, two,
side by side
at the edge of the woods,
bathed in the golden blaze
of the rising sun behind them.

The coffee is brewing,
her hands fold around his waist,
both gazing out the window.

The deer stand still for a long minute
before they turn in concert,
walking into the woods,
into the blinding radiance,
blending into the trees,

vanishing.

“I want it to be just like that,
for you to never be alone,
but if it cannot be,
then look for me by the woods,
I’ll be waiting there, for you;
so we can walk
the rest of the way together,
into the light
side by side.”
